The intent of the position statement is to clarify the distinction between a manufacturing process and the minimum education essentials and credentialing for providers of custom-fabricated and custom-fitted orthoses and prostheses and to reiterate the importance of established minimum standards to assure efficacy and safety for O&P patients, the Academy said.
