An Adjustable Approach to Socket Fit
The Ethnocare Overlay gives patients a way to adjust socket fit throughout the day without changing the socket itself.
How the Overlay Works
The Overlay is a thin textile sleeve with an integrated air expansion system. It is worn over the existing prosthetic liner and inside the socket.
When more support is needed, the user adds a small amount of air. The air cells expand into available space inside the socket to help restore contact and reduce unwanted movement. If less support is needed, air can be released through the deflation valve.
Adjustments can be made while the prosthesis remains donned.
Bringing Adjustability to Transfemoral Patients
The Overlay TF is designed specifically for above-knee prostheses, with sizing, length, and air-cell positioning adapted to transfemoral anatomy and socket configurations.
This gives clinicians an additional option for managing volume fluctuations in transfemoral patients without requiring a new socket or permanent socket modification.
The Overlay is also available for transtibial users, allowing clinicians to use adjustable air-based volume management across lower-limb amputation levels.
Broad Suspension Compatibility
The Overlay is compatible with common suspension methods, including pin-lock, lanyard, suspension sleeves, cushion liners, seal-in systems, passive vacuum, and active vacuum systems.
It works within the patient’s existing prosthetic setup rather than replacing the suspension system.
US List Price and L5657 Reimbursement
The Overlay is recognized in the United States under HCPCS code L5657.
This provides clinicians with a dedicated reimbursement pathway for an adjustable volume-management insert while creating a clearer relationship between product acquisition cost and reimbursement.
Coverage and payment remain dependent on medical necessity, payer policies, the patient’s insurance plan, and appropriate documentation.
Available Through Major US Distributors
The Overlay is available to prosthetic clinics throughout the United States through SPS, Hanger, Cascade, PEL, and Empire Medical.
Clinics can order through their preferred distributor or contact Ethnocare for help selecting the appropriate TT or TF configuration.
