The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) named Ashlie White, MS, as its senior director of external affairs, effective August 18.
White will direct federal and state policy initiatives, facilitate research collaborations, and lead AOPA’s strategic external alliances with the goal of ensuring a stronger future for the AOPA membership, the O&P profession, and the limb-loss and limb-difference community.
White most recently served as chief strategy and programs officer at the Amputee Coalition, where she oversaw the National Limb Loss Resource Center, government relations, education, and research. She previously served as AOPA’s director of health policy and strategic alliances. Her background in public policy, health law, and public health leadership will be instrumental in leading AOPA’s policy, research, and strategic alliance initiatives.
“As AOPA doubles down on advocating for policies at both the federal and state levels that advance the profession and protect patient access to high-quality O&P care, Ashlie’s drive, vision, relationships, and leadership will play a key role in advancing AOPA’s mission,” said Teri Kuffel, JD, executive director.
White holds a master’s degree in health law from New York University, and a graduate certificate in public health leadership, a master’s degree in digital communication, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
