CGS, the Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor (DME MAC) for Jurisdiction B and Jurisdiction C, won a potential a $215.7M competitive procurement contract to help the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services process claims and payments in Jurisdiction C.
The contract says that CGS will perform numerous functions on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries and establish relationships with providers of DME, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) in Jurisdiction C (Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands).
The contract type is not a fixed price because of the ongoing changes in the Medicare program requirements directed by mandatory legislation and because resulting performance uncertainties in many functional areas are such that reasonable estimates of their cost impact cannot be made, according to the announcement.
