The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published several fact sheets related to the bidding and award procedures for the durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program (CBP) for small suppliers who would like to participate.
The fact sheet considerations include a small supplier target, with at least 30 percent of the contracts offered to suppliers that generate less than $3.5 million in gross revenues. The fact sheet also details eligibility requirements and the ability for small suppliers to network with other bidders to meet DMEPOS CBP qualifications.
CMS said it is taking “appropriate steps to ensure small suppliers of items and services have an opportunity to be considered for participation in the Medicare DMEPOS CBP. A small supplier target and the ability to network are two provisions that help foster small supplier participation in the DMEPOS CBP.”
