Cassandra Delgado, CO, was awarded the $1,500 Women in O&P research scholarship for 2018, and a 2017 American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics/Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation (ABC/OPERF) resident travel award during the 2018 American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetics (the Academy) Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium held in New Orleans February 14-17.
The travel award program supports residents’ travel to the yearly meeting to present their study report or project. Delgado presented her research paper, “Ability of Pygmalion Effect to Reduce Non-Compliance and Improve Orthotic Outcomes in Patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis.”Â

She was recognized during the Introduction to Women in O&P session February 16. “It’s encouraging from others in the field who want you to succeed and do well,” Delgado said. Delgado joined Prosthetic & Orthotic Associates (POA), Middletown, New York, last summer as a prosthetics resident. She is involved with the Academy’s literature review board as well as Women in O&P.
