Connecticut O&P Providers Face Cuts

The Connecticut Department of Social Services has published a bulletin outlining its plans to reduce Medicaid reimbursement rates for durable medical equipment  providers, including O&P providers, by 50-60 percent on April 1, according to the Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England (HOMES). HOMES is conducting a survey to gather the impacts of this reduction. Responses are due by March 9.

The HOMES survey, in collaboration with AAHomecare and the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology, asks for information from Connecticut providers about their participation in the Medicaid program, how the cuts would affect the products and related services they provide, and what business/operational changes would be made. HOMES said it will keep individual results confidential but share combined results with state officials. Survey respondents do not have to be members of HOMES.

HOMES said the survey is a first step in its multipronged approach to fighting the cuts.

The bulletin is called “Reductions and Adjustments to Payments for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) to Remain Compliant with Federal Law” (PB18-15).
