Drexel University and Salus University signed an agreement to merge the institutions, which they say will bring together the complementary strengths of both institutions in graduate health sciences education, research, and clinical practice.
Salus University hosts a Master of Science in O&P (MSOP) program, which saw its first student cohort in 2023. Drexel University has conducted O&P-related research.
While the merger requires regulatory and judicial approvals, Drexel President John Fry and Salus President Michael Mittelman formed an Integration Council comprising faculty and professional staff from both universities that will address how and when academic programs and operational units will become part of Drexel’s structure.
“It’s a good day for O&P,” said Chad Duncan, PhD, CRC, CPO, MSOP program director, about the merger.
