Do you remember the 2004 movie I Robot? In it, a detective, who is highly skeptical of robots, and it could be said perhaps even anti-robot, discovers that the centralized AI has evolved to override the safety controls built into the robots that the humans rely on.
While today’s AI is certainly not the stuff of the movie’s sci-fi universe, there are those among us who remain much like that detective in our skepticism. But as we discuss in this issue dedicated to maximizing O&P practices, AI is one among the tools that can be used to deliver quality patient care while improving business efficiency (with a degree of caution).
