The O&P technician’s domain is the fabrication laboratory, whether in-house as part of an O&P practitioner’s patient care facility or a stand-alone central fabrication facility. While technicians often operate behind the scenes, their importance in O&P care is very much front and center—visible in the orthoses and prostheses that patients use. The composition of “fabrication speak” is all encompassing—anatomy, tools, processes, and devices. But, all work and no play make for a dull day on the fabrication bench. In that spirit, The O&P EDGE welcomes you to the second installment of O&Pedia.
