The Hanger Institute for Clinical Research & Education, launched in March by Hanger, Austin, Texas, formed an external advisory board of members from the healthcare community. The advisory board will join the Hanger Institute in its efforts to advance the clinical practice of O&P and improve patient outcomes.
Members of the advisory board are as follows:
- Biykem Bozkurt, MD, PhD, director of Winters Center for Heart Failure Research, and associate director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at Baylor College of Medicine
- Judith M. Burnfield, PhD, PT, director of the Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering, director of the Movement and Neurosciences Center and the Clifton Chair in Physical Therapy and Movement Sciences at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals
- Catrine Tudor-Locke, PhD, FACSM, FNAK, professor and dean of the College of Health and Human Services at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte
- Douglas Smith, MD, professor emeritus, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Washington, professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine
