Humotech, a developer of wearable device platforms in prosthetics, orthotics, and exoskeletons, and Penn State Health are partnering to advance more responsive, evidence-driven clinical care in O&P.
The $67,008 grant was part of the Manufacturing PA Innovation Program for the cohort project “Prospective Evaluation of a Prosthetic Foot Emulator System to Improve Clinical Outcomes and Cost-Effectiveness in Lower-Limb Prosthetics.” The work will be led by Prateek Grover, MBBS, PhD, MHA ,FAAPMR, director of limb loss and preservation rehabilitation and program medical director, Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Amputee Rehab Program, Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital.
The collaboration aims to bring data-driven prosthetic foot evaluation into real clinical workflows using Humotech’s Clinical Caplex clinical decision-support system.
The projects are part of Manufacturing PA’s fellowship program, which embeds some of the Commonwealth’s best graduate and undergraduate students with local manufacturers to develop new technologies and advance innovation statewide.
