Thomas Valenti, CPO, founder and owner of The Ortho Remedy Prosthetic Center of Excellence, Cliffside Park, New Jersey, passed away November 24. He was 63 years old. He was born August 18, 1954.
Valenti’s career in O&P began in 1974 when he graduated from New York University O&P program. He interned for three years at Eschen Prosthetic & Orthotics in New York. In 1976, Valenti opened The Ortho Remedy and dedicated his career to helping those with physical challenges.
Valenti was a pioneer in prosthetic innovation. He invented the EndoFlex system in 1981, a lightweight socket-pylon endoskeletal prosthesis for those with transtibial and transfemoral amputations. He was one of the first prosthetic practitioners in the tristate area of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut to be certified to fit and program Ottobock Healthcare’s C-Leg, and was also published in several industry journals. Â
