Distinct from these lighter-reading options are the academic articles published in peer-reviewed journals. These represent a different type of publication with specific governing structures and expectations. This article defines the structure of those academic articles as well as the peer-review process and the role that clinical practitioners can play in ensuring the quality of scientific publications.
