LIMB-art, Conwy, Wales, a maker of prosthetic leg covers, opened at the Wirral Limb Centre, Bebington, Wales. The center, based in Clatterbridge Hospital and part of Wirral University Teaching Hospital, serves over 730 people with amputations and includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pre-amputation consultations, and counselling.
“LIMB-Art covers give the patient a greater input into optimizing the appearance of their prosthetic leg,” said Sarah Evans, a prosthetist at Ottobock at the Wirral Limb Centre. “The cover restores the shape of the prosthesis to match that of the sound limb but without trying to make the prosthesis appear to be a ‘normal’ leg. It also protects the componentry underneath….”
Last year, LIMB-art found Mark Williams won the national Entrepreneurial Spirit Award for 2020 at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
