The 2014 Myoelectric Controls Symposium (MEC ’14) was held in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, August 18-22. The triennial conference, regarded by many as the premier conference in the world on upper-limb prosthetics, is hosted by the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME). The event has continued to grow steadily since its inception more than three decades ago. This year’s attendance drew more than 230 participants from 15 countries, which represented a new record, nearly tripling the size of MEC over the last decade.
