The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published the October 2020 Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) File. Relevant to O&P providers, CMS established a new Level II HCPCS code, K-1007, that will take effect October 1. K-1007 is defined as a bilateral hip, knee, ankle, foot device, powered, includes pelvic component, single or double upright(s), knee joints any type, with or without ankle joints any type, includes all components and accessories, motors, microprocessors, sensors.
The following HCPCS codes have description/verbiage changes that will take effect October 1:
L-8701 Elbow, wrist, hand device, powered, with single or double upright(s), any type joint(s), includes microprocessor, sensors, all components and accessories
L-8702 Elbow, wrist, hand, finger device, powered, with single or double upright(s), any type joint(s), includes microprocessor, sensors, all components and accessories
