(1950-2002) The Mexican Society of Orthotists and Prosthetists [La Sociedad de Ortesistas y Protesistas AC-SMOPAC] announces the death of Roberto Calderón Márquez, which occurred July 20, 2002, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. We express our condolences and pain for this loss. Mr. Calderón was one of the most outstanding students of the Orthotists and Prosthetists School of the Mexican Rehabilitation Institute [Instituto Mexicano de Rehabilitación-IMR] during the decade of the 70s. Likewise, he supported the development of the Continuing Education Program of the Prosthetists and Orthotists Association of the Mexican Republic [Asociación de Protesistas y Ortesistas de la República Mexicana-APORM] as an instructor of innumerable short courses. Mr. Calderón participated in rehabilitation teams on the border with the United States, and his contributions to the [rehabilitation] field were very important. Many of us had the privilege of becoming his dear friends. The entire SMOPAC team, his associates, are very saddened at the loss of this great friend and respected member of our profession. His presence and contributions to the practice of orthotics and prosthetics will be missed by all of us. Rest in Peace Ciudad de México July 23, 2002
