Jeremy Burleson, a world-class track and field athlete, has joined Freedom Innovations, Corona, California, as an amputee advocate and company spokesperson for the company's line of prosthetic feet, the company announced recently. Burleson, 26, started wearing the new Renegade prosthetic foot from Freedom Innovations three months ago. Burleson lost his leg during a Marine Corps training accident in 1995. However, that did not prevent him from taking the gold medal in the Pentathlon at the 2001 International Challenge at Chula Vista, California, Olympic Training Center. He is now training as a discus thrower for the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece. Burleson was co-valedictorian in his prosthetics class at California State University-Dominguez Hills, and is currently taking his residency. He is featured on a poster promoting the new Renegade foot. The poster shows the muscular and agile Burleson running on the beach at sunset, creating an inspirational image for amputees.
