Donald O. Fedder, DrPH, has retired as president and chief
executive officer of the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist
Certification (BOC) after more than three decades of service, the
BOC announced today. Fedder served initially as a consultant to,
and then director of, the National Board for Orthotic Certification
(NBOC), founded by the Health Industry Distributors Association’s
(HIDA) predecessor, the American Surgical Trade Association (ASTA),
in the mid-70s. In 1984, NBOC was reconstituted as BOC, an
independent agency, and Fedder was appointed its CEO, a position he
has held until now.
