The Open Prosthetics Project has announced a new website: www.openprosthetics.org/ The Open Prosthetics Project is producing useful innovations in the field of prosthetics and giving the designs away for free. "By substituting public good for profits, we believe that we can generate far more societal benefit than if we commercialized and sold our ideas," the project partners explain. "This project is an open source collaboration between users, designers, and funders with the goal of making our creations freely available for anyone to use and build upon." The four founders of the projectJesse Crossen, Jonathan Kuniholm, Jason Stevens, and Chuck Messer, later joined by Kevin Webbmet at North Carolina State University (NSCU) where they worked together on engineering projects. Together they combine expertise in industrial design, biomedical engineering, robotics, and software development.
