BridgePoint Medical Acquires POA

SpineSource America LLC, Lexington, Kentucky, has changed its name to BridgePoint Medical LLC and has acquired Prosthetic and Orthotic Associates (POA) Ltd., Lexington, the company announced. POA also operates a facility in Morehead, Kentucky.

BridgePoint acquired all the assets of POA and retained Ralph Strano, CPO, as an owner-operator. "The acquired entity will retain its name and locations and will continue to offer the same outstanding service without interruption. Strano, [with] 11 years of ownership, will retain a minority interest and run day-to-day operations," according to BridgePoint.

POA, credentialed by the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC), was founded in 1990 by David Wagers, CP. After 16 years of serving patient needs, Wagers will, in the interim, go to on-call status and consult with Strano to ensure a smooth patient transition, BridgePoint said.

Previously, as SpineSource, BridgePoint was focused on orthotics, primarily spinal and lower-extremity.

"This marks a new day for our company," said BridgePoint President Clint McKinley. "We have formed a solid partnership with an outstanding company and will now begin to implement our growth strategy in the Lexington market and beyond... Additionally, this partnership now marks the beginning of a concerted effort to grow our business, both in the region and out, through internal growth and identification of new partnership opportunities." The company is interested in surrounding markets, such as Louisville, Kentucky; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Nashville, Tennessee, McKinley added.

"The orthotics and prosthetics business is profitable and ready for consolidation," McKinley continued. "Our strategy is to significantly reduce administrative burdens and allow practitioners, like Ralph, to go back to what they are best at, serving patients with the best possible care. Moreover, we will actively support and promote credentialing activities to help safeguard quality patient care."

"I am very excited about this new partnership," said Strano. "We have been progressively burdened with paperwork and administrative tasks, taking us away from our reason for being in business, the patients, and I expect to have more time to be in the market working with doctors, institutions, and patients, providing a better service to the community."
