Ossur Names McGill Director of Payer Relations, Legislative Affairs

Dave McGill Ossur Americas, Aliso Viejo, California, has hired business leader Dave McGill to direct and manage reimbursement related issues, in addition to serving as Ossur's resident authority and resource on topics and trends affecting the medical marketplaces in which the company competes, Ossur announced.

In his newly created role as director of Payer Relations & Legislative Affairs, McGill also will be responsible for building relationships with industry experts, third-party payers, case management, and HMOs.

"The leadership and experience that Dave McGill is bringing to Ossur will be an invaluable assets to the company's growth plans," said Eythor Bender, president of Ossur Americas. "He has a proven track record for guiding complex reimbursement issues towards successful patient outcomes, a growing challenge as Ossur invents and introduces unprecedented technologies such as our Bionic Technology platform and will accelerate our efforts to more comprehensively recognize and adapt to industry trends."

McGill comes to Ossur from A Step Ahead Prosthetics & Orthotics, Hicksville, New York, where he was executive director and head of that company's Insurance Task Force for five years. He has been chairman of the Amputee Coalition of America' (ACA) Board of Directors since 2004, and serves on ACA's Public Policy and Advocacy Committee which is spearheading an effort to mandate access to appropriate prosthetic technologies for all amputees. Previously, he served as a medical malpractice and insurance litigation attorney with the New York law firms Bartlett McDonough Bastone & Monaghan, and Rivkin Radler & Kremer.

"I am looking forward to working with Ossur's leadership to find innovative strategies that will ensure that we can continue to deliver the highest-quality products to the medical markets we compete in," said McGill, who will continue to operate out of Suffolk County, New York.
