Sold out? Not for Team CAF Malibu. It's not too late to join Sarah Reinertsen, "One Arm" Willie Stewart, soldiers wounded in Iraq, and many other exceptional challenged athletes at the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on Sunday, September 16. The event is completely sold out, but MESP, the race organizer, has generously given the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), San Diego, California, the opportunity to sell additional spots to friends and supporters. With those slots, CAF put together Team CAF Malibu in order to make the event more than just another race; CAF wants it to be an experience to be remembered. There are only 25 spots still available. Those who join Team CAF Malibu will receive entry into the sold out event, presented by Toyota, a CAF race uniform (custom tri-top and matching tri shorts), a chance to race alongside Sarah, Willie, and their friends, and a team photo, a copy of which will be sent to each member of Team CAF Malibu. There will be a swim "warm-up," led by two-time Ironman world champion Scott Tinley, Ian Murray, and Baywatch actress Alexandra Paul, as well as a beach party with lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, September 15. Also, there will be an inspirational pre-race pep talk from participating challenged athletes, and everyone will get a customized fundraising web page linked to a larger site. To be a part of this great event and help make a difference in the lives of physically challenged athletes, sign-up by Wednesday, August 15, and commit to raising $1,000 for CAF by Tuesday, September 4. The funds raised will help pay for specialized equipment, training, and coaching expenses for deserving physically challenged athletes around the world. (Already racing, but want to join the fun? Commit to raising $750 by September 4, and you're on the team.)
