APO Hires Manager, CPed

Andy Besser, CPO, Named Manager of Four Patient Care Offices Andy Besser, CPO American Prosthetics and Orthotics Inc. (APO), Des Moines, Iowa, announced that Andy Besser, CPO, will manage patient care offices in Davenport, Bettendorf, and Burlington, Iowa, and Moline, Illinois.

Besser first joined APO in 1996 as a prosthetic technician after graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in biology. He completed programs in prosthetics and orthotics at Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois, and served his residencies in both at APO. In 2001 and 2003, he was certified in prosthetics and orthotics respectively by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics, Inc. (ABC).

In 2005, he became manager of the Clive and Des Moines offices. He left the company briefly before rejoining it in 2008.

Theresa Bonnema, CPed, COF APO also announced that Theresa Bonnema, CPed, COF, has joined its staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics office.

Theresa Bonnema, CPed, COF Prior to joining APO, Bonnema worked as a pedorthist and orthotic fitter at Quality Prosthetic & Orthotic Care Inc., Battle Creek, Michigan.

Bonnema graduated summa cum laude in 2003 from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering. While a student, she also worked for the Food and Drug Administration in Rockville, Maryland, as a research intern.

She obtained her pedorthic training from Xtra Depth® University, the pedorthic education arm of footwear manufacturer, P.W. Minor. She was certified in pedorthics by ABC in 2006. She became an ABC-certified orthotic fitter in 2004.
