Congress has approved the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Amendment Act of 2008, clearing the way for President Bush’s
promised signing of the historic civil-rights bill into law. The
bill would overturn what the U.S. House of Representatives
Committee on Education and Labor (CEL) calls “the erroneous Supreme
Court decisions that have eroded the protections for people with
disabilities,” and “makes it absolutely clear that the ADA is
intended to provide broad coverage to protect anyone who faces
discrimination on the basis of disability.”
