The First VolleyTM adaptive tennis clinics presented
by the Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund (OPAF) provide
adaptive tennis instruction, skills, and drills for those served by
members of the O&P community, which include stroke and brain
injury survivors, children with cerebral palsy (CP), people with
amputations, and people with disabilities who would like to try
tennis without sitting in a wheelchair to do so. The clinics, which
are led by Darren Kindred, First Volley director of tennis, or
Marie Vanasse, CP, First Volley certified instructor, have now been
granted two mandatory continuing education credits (MCEs) by the
American Board for Certification for Orthotics, Prosthetics &
Pedorthics (ABC). People who participate in, volunteer at, or
observe a First Volley clinic are eligible to receive the
credits.
