The National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) has begun seeking nominations to its board of directors. According to NCOPE, two board positions will be available as of January 1, 2010. Appointees will serve through December 31, 2012. Nominations will close on August 31, 2009.
The role of the new appointees will be to provide representation and participation to NCOPE on accreditation and professional education issues. Their duties will include attending NCOPE meetings, participating in discussions, and participating in selected subcommittees.
NCOPE said that nominees should have an interest or background in education and/or accreditation; prominence, respect, and name recognition among his or her peers; a record of significant accomplishment in more than one area of endeavor, such as an individual who has been successful in his or her vocation and has served on other boards or committees; willingness and ability to articulate a point of view clearly and persuasively; the ability to provide constructive contributions, to compromise and to work toward consensus positions; and the ability to commit the time and effort necessary for active service as a member of the board.
