On June 13, the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC), New Delhi, in collaboration with India’s Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, provided free wheelchairs, tricycles, prosthetic limbs, and other mobility aids to as many as 135 financially needy persons with disabilities. The assistive devices were distributed after a three-day assessment camp at ISIC under an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
The assessment camp was organized by ISIC’s department of orthotics and prosthetics. Persons with disabilities from Delhi NCR were assessed for different aids/appliances out of which 60 patients were assessed for tricycles, 30 for wheelchairs, ten patients for prostheses, 15 patients for calipers, and the rest for other mobility aids.
