Allied Orthotics & Prosthetics, Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, along with the Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund (OPAF) and The First Clinics recently hosted a First Swing/Learn to Golf clinic at the Atlantic City Country Club (ACCC), Northfield, New Jersey. This was the second consecutive year that the ACCC has hosted a First Swing clinic.
Ten participants, along with National Amputee Golf Association (NAGA) Instructor, Lou Namm and PGA Instructor and ACCC Director of Golf, Charles Fahy led the clinic, giving background on the NAGA and adaptive golf as well as providing hands-on golf instruction.
“Getting people together with others who are facing challenges and having them try something new is always a good thing,” said Dennis Williams, CP, staff practitioner at Allied Orthotics & Prosthetics. “It’s how we grow as people.” Williams, who is an amputee athlete, “understands the value of activity and the social aspect of golf,” OPAF said.
