Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius said he will not try to qualify for the 400m at next month’s World Athletics Championships in Berlin.
On July 15, the Paralympic gold medalist ran a personal best for the season in Lucerne-47.07 seconds. Unfortunately, this fell short of the qualifying time of 45.95 seconds.
“Having not made the minimum qualifying time, I must resign myself to staying at home,” Pistorius told reporters in Rome on July 19.
Pistorius’ training schedule was hampered in February after a boating accident in which he sustained head and facial injuries.
According to BBC Sport, the South African is still targeting London’s 2012 Olympics.
