Mica Corp., Kelso, Washington, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with USA YOBAND, Shanghai, China, the largest clinical prosthetics group in China. USA YOBAND, which provides clinical care in China and provides international prosthetics manufacturing and distribution services, will exclusively distribute Mica’s Genesis-brand feet in China, and Mica will exclusively distribute many of USA YOBAND’s knees and components in the United States. According to Chris Collier, Mica general manager, the contract was signed in December 2009 and initial shipments under the agreement began in 2010.
“We are very excited about our distribution agreement that we have entered in with USA YOBAND,” Collier said. “USA YOBAND has an exceptional reputation in China and embodies the high quality customer service that our customers have come to expect from us. We’re thrilled that we can launch our products with such an established organization in the Chinese market.”
Due to this agreement and other recent expansions, Mica is also in the process of increasing the scale of its local operations. According to Collier, 2010 will see the company moving into a new facility in Longview, Washington, that is double the size of its original Kelso facility. The new building will house not only manufacturing facilities, but also an expanded clinic with what Collier calls “state-of-the-art education centers for patients.”
