Toshiki Kobayashi, PhD, has joined Orthocare Innovations, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as a research scientist at the company’s Seattle, Washington, research facility. Kobayashi received his PhD from the Department of Health Technology and Informatics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and is also a trained orthotics and prosthetics clinician who grew up in a third-generation private O&P practice. While at Hong Kong Polytechnic, Kobayashi’s doctoral research was focused on improving mobility through better lower-limb orthosis design.
“Dr. Toshiki Kobayashi has experience and skills that mesh perfectly with the direction of Orthocare Innovations,” commented Orthocare’s Chief Technology Officer David Boone, CP, MPH, PhD. “Dr. Kobayashi’s unique expertise is helping to create revolutionary orthotic applications for our Compas and Galileo product platforms, as well as other next-generation orthotic technologies.”
According to Orthocare, Kobayashi’s most recent research paper, with co-authors Boone and Aaron Leung, PhD, has been nominated as Best Research Paper for the upcoming 2010 International Society for Prosthetics & Orthotics (ISPO) World Congress in Leipzig, Germany.
