Daniel G. (Dan) Rowe, CPO, passed away on June 23, in Roseville, Minnesota. He was 75.
According to his online memorial, Rowe was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began his O&P career at Shriners Hospitals for Children. More recently, he owned and operated Dan Rowe & Associates, St. Paul, Minnesota. Rowe served as president of the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) during the 1977-1978 term. He also patented the sacral brace in 1990.
Wil Haines, CPO, Max Care Bionics, Avon, Indiana, wrote in a post to the OANDP-L listserv that Rowe “was a dear and welcomed friend to many in our profession. He was truly one of the gentlemen among us and will be missed….” A former patient, Lori McCurdy, wrote on www.legacy.com that Rowe was the “greatest inspiration” of her life.
He leaves behind his wife Evie Hoffman; two daughters, Darlene Eaton and Loretta Pederson; four sons, Bill, Larry, David, and John; brother, Donald; sisters, Lorraine Luhman and Dorothy Larson; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be sent to either Shriners Hospitals for Children or Alzheimer’s Association.
