Catherine “Kay” Leimkuehler passed away on October 6, 2010, in Westlake, Ohio. She was 92.
Leimkuehler, wife of the late Paul E. Leimkuehler, who founded PEL Supply, Cleveland, Ohio, was a well-known fixture in the orthotics and prosthetics industry for more than 50 years. She was president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA), then called the Orthopedic Appliance & Limb Manufacturers Association (OALMA), for the 1953-1954 term. During her lifelong affiliation with O&P, she attended more than 50 national meetings.
Leimkuehler is survived by her four children-sons Bill, Bob, and Jon, and daughter Paulette Leimkuehler Vaughn, all members of the O&P profession-as well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, of which seven work in the O&P profession today.
