The Traverse City, Michigan, Record-Eagle and multiple other media outlets in Michigan and beyond have reported that Michael L. Teter, CPO, was shot and killed on January 6, 2011, in an apparent murder-suicide. The shooter has been identified as William Welch, 44.
According to a Traverse City Police news release, Welch fatally shot himself after shooting Teter twice.
Teter owned Teter Orthotics & Prosthetics, which is headquartered in Traverse City, Michigan, and has more than 15 offices throughout northern and mid Michigan. According to the company’s website, Teter Orthotics & Prosthetics has been providing O&P care to Northern Michigan for 45 years. Teter purchased the company in 1991.
