TRS Inc., Boulder, Colorado, announced a product delivery and development partnership agreement with Boa Technology, Denver, Colorado, and the EXOS Corporation, Minneapolis, Minnesota. New product prototypes that result from the partnership will be launched at the Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics Education Fair in Reno, Nevada, in February.
Established in 1998, Boa manufactures closure and lace tensioning systems that replace traditional shoelaces and are currently used in high-performance footwear. The lacing system can be operated one-handed and can adjust to supply zonal tension control, useful for O&P applications. EXOS, founded in 2007, develops waterproof external musculoskeletal stabilization systems comprised of proprietary, low-temperature, thermoformable laminates. EXOS cast and brace products incorporate Boa technology.
According to Robert “Bob” Radocy, president and CEO of TRS, one new product that is in development as a result of the partnership is a prosthosis that uses EXOS laminates, Boa technology, and TRS proprietary information. The product is slated for release within two years.
“I’m hoping some of this new technology will literally revolutionize the way some of these prosthetics are made,” Radocy said.
Jimmy Capra, product manager at Boa, added, “We are very excited to be working with TRS and EXOS on this project as it will bring a huge amount of benefit to many people in need of well-fitting, adjustable prosthetics and orthotics. We hope to revolutionize these products and really help people live better, more comfortable lives.”
