Illinois House Bill (HB) 3315, sponsored by state Rep. Rosemary Mulligan (R-65), which will help military veterans acquire prostheses, was signed into law on August 16 and will take effect January 1, 2012.
The law directs the Illinois Discharged Servicemember Task Force, created within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), to investigate the availability of prostheses offered to Illinois veterans.
The Servicemember Task Force is also charged with reviewing the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), homelessness, disabilities, and other issues facing Illinois veterans re-entering civilian life after being engaged in an active theater.
