T.O.D.D. Field Day, a day of adaptive recreational activities commemorating Todd Anderson, CP, FAAOP, was held on Saturday, October 1 at the Northern Star Boy Scout Base Camp in Minneapolis, Minnesota. More than 250 attendees of various ages and physical challenges from across the Midwest gathered to celebrate the life and adaptive athletic pursuits of Anderson, an Otto Bock HealthCare, Minneapolis, employee who passed away suddenly in August 2010. An avid sportsman, athlete, clinician, and enthusiast of adaptive recreation, Otto Bock chose to honor and remember Anderson with T.O.D.D. Field Day-the acronym T.O.D.D. stands for Taking Opportunities, Defying Disabilities.
Activities included rock climbing, hockey, adaptive biking, golf, high ropes course, archery, and cross-country skiing, as well as demonstrations of wheelchair basketball, soccer, rugby, adaptive and inclusive tennis, and more. Food, fun, and fellowship were all part of the day as well as a memory wall for attendees, family, and friends to leave a memory of Anderson as part of the celebration.
The event was made possible by partnerships with Courage Center, a Minnesota-based nonprofit rehabilitation and center, OPAF and The First Clinics, Northern Star Base Camp, and the help of volunteers and friends.
