The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the new Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes, which take effect January 1, 2012. The list is available on the CMS website.
Changes include 285 code additions and one new modifier, 48 revisions, and 75 deletions. Another 18 codes were added and eight deleted throughout 2011.
Specific to O&P, is the addition of three new L-Codes, description changes to five L-Codes, and the deletion of 17 L-Codes-most of which pertain to mobile arm supports for wheelchairs.
