A study done this year in Sweden revealed that lower-limb prosthetic patients want a reliable P&O facility, a prosthesis that they can rely on and that is comfortable, and they want to look and feel as normal as possible in mainstream society, according to Bengt Söderberg, CPO, SE, gait lab manager, managing director of Scandinavian Orthopaedic Laboratory, Helsingborg, Sweden, and president-elect of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO). Söderberg was the keynote speaker Wednesday morning, May 16, as the 2012 International Trade Show and World Congress, ORTHOPÄDIE + REHA-TECHNIK (O+R), continued at the Liepziger Messe Congress Center, Germany.
Expectations are always high, Söderberg said, but questions remain about how well those expectations are being met, Söderberg told the audience. “We need to do a better job of working together to meet their expectations,” he said. “Good is not good enough. Let’s work together to meet all expectations.”
