George Allen “Butch” Lair of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away June 8. He was 69.
Lair was born December 4, 1942, in Rochester, to Curtis W. and Blanche (O’Reilly) Lair. He was a certified pedorthist and owned and operated Lair’s Shoes from 1970 to 1987. After selling the business in 1987, he and his family moved to Solon, Ohio. There, he worked for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio, where he helped to start its Foot & Ankle Center. After his retirement, Lair returned to Rochester and worked part-time for Prosthetic Laboratories, which had purchased his business.
According to an online obituary, Lair was an avid fisherman, a talented woodworker, and he loved music and playing guitar.
Lair is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Lizius.
He is survived by his wife Marie “Ernie” Randall; four daughters, Susan E. Vaher (Ulo); Roberta E. Stevens (Kevin McLaughlin); Bridget M. Lair (Sean Jones); and Kate M. Lair (Wojciech Grochowski); two stepsons, Patrick James Randall (Tracie) and Michael E. Randall (Natalie); and 11 grandchildren.
