Didrick Medical, Naples, Florida, which developed and assembles the active-function prosthetic X-Finger®, was one of 12 companies to recently receive a $250,000 grant through the Mission: Small Business program. Sponsored by Chase, headquartered in New York, New York, and Living Social, Washington DC, the program awards grants to enable small businesses to get to the next level of company growth. All the companies were judged on their ability to demonstrate a feasible growth plan, creativity, passion for the business, and a desire to make a difference in the community.
“I will be able to come up with different sizes…and we can have inventory ready,” Dan Didrick, owner of Didrick Medical, told the Naples News. He also said that he is working on the 93rd revision of the prosthesis.
Although Didrick estimated sales to “still be in the hundreds,” his accountant pointed told the Naples News that the X-Finger is patented in dozens of countries and Didrick makes what he thinks may be the only active-function prosthetic fingers in the world.
