OPAF launched First Row™, adaptive rowing and sculling using ergonomic rowing machines (ERGs), at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy) Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium in Orlando, Florida, in February.
First Row offers anyone with a physical challenge the chance to try adaptive rowing and sculling using ERGs to facilitate the rowing motion. South Orlando Rowing Association (SORA) provided equipment, volunteers, and expertise to more than a dozen attendees. Also in attendance were Oksana Masters and Rob Jones, SORA-trained Paralympians. The team competed in the 2012 London Paralympic Games and scored a bronze medal in the trunk and arms mixed-double sculls.
