The American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) announced that it submitted a statement to the Senate Finance Committee, which conducted hearings June 25 on “Program Integrity: Oversight of Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs).” The Senate Finance Committee has oversight over Medicare. The hearing was held to examine the RAC audit program and sought to identify improvements in the way audits are conducted. AOPA’s statement discussed, among other things, how RAC audits are affecting O&P practices in terms of cash flow issues and patient care.
