The Amputee Coalition announced that three people have joined its Education and Conference (EdCon) Committee: Roberta Cone, PsyD; Tammie Higginbotham; and Sienna Newman, CPO.
Cone has been a member of the Coalition’s Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee (SciMAC) since 2011 and currently serves on SciMAC’s consumer event subcommittee. She is a clinical psychologist and currently works in the Veterans Administration Healthcare System in Southern California. Cone has a left transradial amputation due to a car accident.
Higginbotham is an Amputee Coalition-certified peer visitor and serves as the organization’s volunteer peer visitor coordinator and also on the Peer Visitor Committee. She previously served on the EdCon Committee. Higginbotham has also worked for insurance fairness in her home state of Illinois and helped get legislation passed. She has a left transtibial amputation.
Newman is a member of the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association, having served as president of the Kentucky chapter. She is currently the chairperson of the Kentucky Licensing Board of Prosthetics, Orthotics and Pedorthics.
