The third annual American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) – Orthotic & Prosthetic Technological Association (OPTA) technical fabrication contest is accepting submissions through July 28.The contest task is to fabricate a lower-limb orthosis or prosthesis that best reflects the entrant’s interpretation of “energy” as it applies to orthotic and prosthetic devices. Submissions will be judged on ingenuity, design, finish, and function. Entries require a statement from the contestant about why he or she fabricated the specific design submitted.
One winner and one runner-up from each of the three categories (practitioner, technician, and student) will be selected. All entries will be eligible for the People’s Choice Award, chosen by attendees at the AOPA National Assembly, to be held September 3-6 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
