According to several Cuban news sources, Ottobock, Duderstadt, Germany, will spend about € 3.5 million (about US $4.41 million on October 1) in the Ortop factory complex at Frank PaÃs International Orthopedic Science (Frank PaÃs), Havana, Cuba, in order to foster O&P development both on the island and in Latin America.
The formalization of the alliance was announced at the 25th International Congress of Orthopedics and Traumatology, held in Trinidad, Cuba, September 22-27, which Ottobock attended. The two organizations have an established relationship. This new alliance, however, will benefit Frank PaÃs with regard to machinery, technical equipment, and materials related to advancing O&P in Cuba.
