Multiple national news sources have reported that Marilyn Tavenner, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) administrator, plans to resign, effective at the end of February. CMS Deputy Administrator Andrew M. Slavitt will become the acting administrator after Tavenner leaves. Slavitt was hired by the administration last summer after he helped HealthCare.gov and other state exchange websites as a technology executive with UnitedHealth Group’s Optum division.
