The Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA), which handles Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) hearings for appealed claims, has launched a new system that will allow providers to track the status of their appeals, reported the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA). An ALJ hearing is the third level of appeal available to providers who are appealing Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) claim audits. The new system is called the ALJ Appeal Status Information System (AASIS).
